SUMMARY: Ed is a life model who gets caught up in the drama of his poses.
WHY IT’S HERE: Taha Neyestani’s student film ‘Ed’ is a fantastic tribute to life models who pose naked for drawing classes. In the film the titular character is depicted as an unassuming, nervous person until he disrobes and takes to the stage. He then begins to assume dramatic poses for the artists and as he does so we see him depicted as a series of heroic figures in period costume, until the session ends and he shuffles modestly out of the door, but not without taking something away from the experience himself. Made with a genuine love and respect for its subject and those like him, ‘Ed’ is a terrific short film filled with affection and invention.
